A strong THIRST initiative needs three things:

  • A crazy idea!

Thirst began with someone who did not run deciding to complete one of the most notorious trail races in the United States. We are all about a crazy idea. Though Thirst began with a runner, we just want you to do something! Your initiative does not have to be an endurance sport, but it does need to be an activity that will not cause long term harm to yourself or anyone else.

  • A clear goal.

The thing that makes a Thirst initiative work is a clear goal. Without a tangible and achievable goal, we are left only with a crazy idea. Your initiative must have a fundraising goal, as well as an official time and location.

  • A strong support system.

Byron Tapp said it best when he noted, “we cannot do truly hard things alone.” This is the most important piece of a Thirst initiative, and the thing we will be most particular about. We need to hear from your people, that they know the cost and are willing to go the distance with you.

Are you ready to do something?

Do you have a crazy idea and people in your corner who might not be too surprised? We’d love to hear more about what you want to do for the sake of raising awareness, empathy, and understanding to the personal and shared struggles of living with the impacts of mental illness. Our team made of people with wild ideas, and the people who love them anyways. Tell us about your idea and we will get back with you about creating your own Thirst initiative.
